Douglas
Fir: 1” to 1 ½” soft green to
blue-green needles; good needle retention; good fragrance;
needles have one of the best aromas among Christmas
trees when crushed.

Fraser
Fir: ¾” to 1” inch long soft, dark green,
needles that are light blue-green on the under side; good needle retention; nice scent;
pyramid-shaped strong branches which turn upward. Its
branches are slightly stiffer than the Douglas Fir.
Generally consider the most desirable of trees (used
by the White House).

Noble
Fir: 1” inch long, bluish-green needles
with a silvery appearance; keeps well; has
short, stiff branches; great for heavier
ornaments; is used to make wreaths, door
swags and garland.

Fir: 1” to 1½” inch long with soft, dark green
glossy needles; holds needles for four weeks -
will stay on even when dry; has two distinct
rows of needles spread horizontally so that both
the upper and lower sides of the branches are
clearly visible.

Blue
Spruce: ¾” to 1 ½” long, dark green to powdery
blue stiff needles; best among species for needle
retention but may drop needles in a warm room; good
form and symmetry; stiff branches support many heavy
decorations; prickly needles keep some people from
selecting it, but that same prickliness helps keep
toddlers from climbing into it.
